Uh Oh. StuffEducatedBlackPeopleLike.Com.

Discussions of class differences among black people invariably become about how the educated and privileged are morally upstanding and how those who aren’t flawed and embarassing. Even when it’s toungue-in-cheek.

So if we were ambivalent about StuffWhitePeopleLike, we’re positively cringing at this site.

UPDATE: We’re not alone. Racialicious’s Latoya Peterson noted the weirdness in the comments section, as well.

I was just thinking over the weekend about a site I “used to” go to that was full of “EBP” dogging the likes of Snoop Dogg and those who have spinners and gold teeth. I got tired of them talking about people so I think this site is funny. Don’t know if I’d have dedicated a blog to the situation but some EBP need to see how funny they look to the rest of us who are Black and educated.

This site mocks educated black people pretty heartily.

The funniest information on the site can be found in the comments. The folks are clinging hard to the image portrayed by the site not realizing it’s a mockery.

IT’S A JOKE! SATIRE! THE SAME SORT YOU GUYS JUST DISCUSSED. WHY CAN WHITE PEOPLE LAUGH AT THEMSELVES IN THE AFOREMENTIONED “STUFF WHITE PEOPLE LIKE” BUT WHEN WE DO IT IT BECOMES ABOUT CLASS AND A NEGATIVE?!

You have a real issue and you should figure out why it is you have such a disdain for anyone whose parents made for them $3 an hr or people who strive to make a better life for themselves and possibly have already succeeded at said goal. You’re not ignorant, uneducated, hood, I have a hard time believing in your current employ – broke, so get off it. You’re more like the people you fight against and put down for everything they do than the people you so vigilantly defend at all cost no matter their faults.

P.S. I’m telling you now this was not said to insight a back and forth on the matter. Take it how you feel and do what you want with it, because I will not respond or comment again on the matter on this post.

pardon me, minor correction – you may be broke, but i don’t believe you to be poor.

    Uh, you alright there, homie?

We didn’t like StuffWhitePeopleLike, either. And, as Aisha pointed out, if it’s satire, a hell of a lot of people on that site are missing the ‘joke’.

‘Ignorant, uneducated, hood…’ Really? Are you trying to make my point for me?

I am not convinced that the site is satirical.

I am convinced that some of the commentors are trying to out-bourgie each other. Vacationing at Oak Cliffs on Martha’s Vineyard? Seriously?

It’s not as funny or interesting as the white people’s blog. Most Buppie’s are boring anyways.

That site sucks. They missed the mark — it’s not funny. I think the White people site set the bar kind of high — I thought it was hilarious.
