I’ve been trying to ignore this for awhile, but there’s no getting around it now.

On one hand, I empathize. Those cats do hundreds of dates a year, and they’re not getting any younger. But a house band for a “comedian” no one seems to like? Even in the inchoate incarnation we see in the above video, it strikes me as very, very wrong.

    this makes me feel old and happy and sad and proud all at the same time. i have that same emapathy that you described…and yes. the vid does seem all kinds of wrong.

    I think this is a good look for The Roots. It definitely increases Jimmy’s cool appeal. And it gives the band more mainstream attention.
